Well, despite the hoopla and false celebration of physician “unity,” the American Medical Association reluctantly acknowledged this past weekend that the organization has lost 12,000 members in the aftermath of their support for Obamacare. Based on the growth of more moderate/conservative doctor groups in America, the AMA is losing even more members as each day goes by…
Note: The AMA’s membership is down 5.3% since last year, and AMA rolls have dropped
almost 10.4% since 2007…considering that the bulk of AMA members are medical students (who get a free ‘member’ card) and retirees, this loss of real, active, productive physician members is astounding and devastating to the AMA.
The AMA refuses to acknowledge that blanket liberal goals such as ‘everyone deserves health insurance’, in the absence of a lucid, well-constructive plan to actually achieve the desire end (i.e., good outcomes and medical access of quality care for all), are unbecoming, unprofessional, unimpressive, and even dangerously reckless. The AMA should have stuck to being a physician advocacy group–a platform from which they could have actually helped many, many more patients in the long run.
And, now to more lies perpetuated and propagated by the Administration in D.C.:
In press release, a new video, and an elusive new report, the Obama administration is boasting about the “free” preventive services that ObamaCare provides to Medicare enrollees.
Here we go again.
First, these preventive-care subsidies are not “free.” They are costing taxpayers dearly by adding to America’s $14 trillion national debt. There is no such thing as a free lunch. And there is nothing “free” about ObamaCare.
Second, ObamaCare supporters have claimed that more preventive care would reduce health care spending, but research shows that it will not.
Third, I hope someone is keeping track of all the taxpayer dollars this administration has wasted trying to convince the American people that they’re wrong to dislike ObamaCare.
Finally, if the $250 checks that ObamaCare sent to millions of Medicare enrollees didn’t make this law popular among seniors, I doubt these indirect subsidies will.
Thank you to the hundreds of supporters, members, and fans who contacted AMS over the weekend to voice your support for our continued work on behalf of physicians, patients, and all Americans in the medical-political arena. What happened? Well, some leaders of local and state medical societies, who were seeking to ingratiate themselves to their masters in the AMA and amongst the liberal elite within their organizations, foolishly sought to threaten the AMS staff thinking (? one supposes) that this would thwart further criticisms of Obamacare, the misuse of local and state medical society funds to pad the pockets of its trustees, plans by these societies to use ACOs to further their own personal goals at the expense of their colleagues, and so on (all of which AMS has written about before)…. This has backfired miserably, and America’s Medical Society is all the more successful as a result…
May all of you keep up your great work to give conservatives a much-needed voice in the arena of medical politics!
